Copy.ai alternatives: an honest comparison

Copy.ai began as an AI copywriter and now sells itself as a go-to-market AI platform: chat for writing, and workflows that automate prospecting, content and account-based marketing. Chat costs $29 a month for five seats; the next plan on the page is $1,000 a month. Most of what a small team has to decide lives in the distance between those two prices.

Written by marketinque, which is one of the alternatives below, so weigh it accordingly. Every price is read from the vendor’s own pricing page on the date above; nothing here is an affiliate link.

When should you choose Copy.ai?

Copy.ai describes itself as “small teams starting to drive real business value with AI”. It is the better pick when:

  • You want an AI writing assistant for up to five people, with OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models in one seat, for $29 a month.
  • Your motion is sales-led and you want workflows that trigger on CRM events, enrich contacts and fill sales sequences, with Salesforce write-back.
  • You are an organization that needs SSO, SOC 2, audit logs and zero data retention with model providers, which the Enterprise plan lists.
  • You want to build your own automations rather than follow a plan someone else wrote.

How does marketinque compare to Copy.ai?

Where Copy.ai is ahead, the table says so.

  • Price

Copy.ai: $29/mo for Chat (5 seats), then $1,000/mo for Growth, billed yearly.

marketinque: $0 for now. The MCP server’s free tier needs no account; projects open by waitlist.

    Edge: marketinque

  • Writing assistant

Copy.ai: Unlimited chat across OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models, with Brand Voice and a stored Infobase of company facts.

marketinque: No chat. Drafts come from the plan and a brand dossier, written in your own Claude Code.

    Edge: them

  • Workflow automation

Copy.ai: Build workflows that run on events or a schedule, with CRM write-back and prospecting actions.

marketinque: A fixed pipeline you do not build: plan, research, draft, check the claims, queue for approval.

    Edge: them

  • Deciding what to do next

Copy.ai: Yours to decide. Workflows and agents run what you configure.

marketinque: A launch plan with prerequisites names the next unlocked step, and each cycle works the next unlocked steps.

    Edge: marketinque

  • Posting and sending

Copy.ai: No native posting to social channels found on its site; outputs fill sales sequences and can create draft web pages through integrations.

marketinque: Posts for you after approval on Bluesky, dev.to, your own Discord and your consented email list. For LinkedIn, X and the rest, you post the approved draft yourself.

    Edge: marketinque

  • Human review

Copy.ai: The vendor says a human always reviews and publishes content-agent output.

marketinque: Every publish, send and dollar waits for your yes by default, on every plan. Per action you can grant a veto window, or earned autonomy where marketinque sends it; spend always asks.

    Even

  • Team seats

Copy.ai: 5 seats on Chat, 75 and up on the workflow plans.

marketinque: One operator per project. No team seats or roles.

    Edge: them

  • Enterprise controls

Copy.ai: SSO, SOC 2, GDPR, audit logs and zero retention with model providers, on Enterprise.

marketinque: Every action lands in an append-only, hash-chained log the database re-verifies on demand.

    Edge: them

Choose marketinque instead when you have no marketing team and want the next step decided as well as drafted: which channel, what to post, in what order; you need directory listings, a launch sequence and outbound drafts in the same queue as your content; or the jump from $29 to $1,000 a month is the wrong shape for a company of one. How the approval queue works.
