The disclosure-first founder answer
Open with the bias disclosure, then write the best answer in the thread — including when a competitor is the right pick. Disclosure converts skepticism into credibility: readers upvote founders who show their hand, and moderators leave disclosed expertise standing. Concealment is the pattern platform trust-scoring exists to catch; candor is the loophole that is also the rule.

The play
Find questions your product genuinely answers and reply with “I built X, so I’m biased” as the opening line, followed by the most complete vendor-neutral answer in the thread — naming competitors where they fit better. Link only where the subreddit’s rules allow.
Watch out for
- The disclosure comes first, not as a footnote — “I’m biased” in line one.
- Recommend a competitor when they genuinely fit better; that single act is what makes every future answer credible.
- No link unless the subreddit’s rules permit one; the username and disclosure do the work.
Best for
- b2b saas
- dev tool
- indie hacker
- agency
