Build the ad set from the complaints you counted, in their words
Cold paid social works when the ad says what the buyer already said. Count the complaints and wants in three months of their own posts, turn the top three into angles, and write three hooks per angle in their exact phrases — nine creatives, one ad set per angle, one offer. Show the outcome they described, then pause any angle that breaks your payback rule.

Step 6.3.8 Run nine cold creatives built from the complaints you counted in the SaaS launch checklist · phase 6, Scale to $1M ARR
The play
Take the three complaints or wants that came up most in three months of your buyers’ own posts, make each one an angle, and write three hooks per angle using their exact phrases. Nine creatives, one ad set per angle, the same offer and link on every one. The creative shows the outcome they described, never the product.
Watch out for
- Hooks are quotes, not paraphrases — if an angle cannot yield three hooks from the profile, drop it rather than pad it.
- Nine creatives, no more: enough to learn from, too few to split a small budget into nothing.
- Write the pause rule before launch — cost per sale against price for a one-off product, the payback rule for a subscription — and enforce it without exceptions.
- No invented numbers, no implied results, no fake testimonials: the platforms reject the claim and the rejection delays the whole set.

Plays like this one
- Sponsor three issues of the newsletter your buyers trustSponsor three consecutive issues of a niche newsletter your buyers genuinely read, with copy written in the letter’s own voice and a dedicated landing page. Niche newsletter attention is under-priced compared to social ads, the writer’s endorsement halo transfers, and three touches let a considered purchase actually land.
- Reddit ads aimed at exact subreddits, written like a redditorTarget Reddit ads at the specific subreddits your buyers inhabit, with plain-spoken, self-aware creative that respects the room — no stock photos, no marketing voice. Community targeting reaches niches other platforms can’t isolate, and the comment section under your ad, handled honestly, becomes free social proof.
- Own the boring long-tail searches nobody bids onBuild exact-match campaigns on the boring, hyper-specific searches in your space — "[task] calculator", "[niche] template", "[format] checklist" — where competitors don’t bid and clicks cost cents. Searchers arrive mid-task with clear intent; land each keyword on a page that completes the task and introduces the product.
- Search ads on "[competitor] alternative" keywordsRun search ads against "[competitor] alternative" and "[competitor] vs [you]" keywords, landing on a fair comparison page rather than the homepage. The audience is small but perfect: they know the category, they’re dissatisfied, and they’re actively shopping for the switch — the highest-intent clicks money can buy.
