Directory submission services vs doing it yourself (2026 prices)

A done-for-you directory submission costs $29 to $499 one-time for 30 to 100 listings, and up to $983 for a Domain Authority target. Several services sell a Domain Rating increase that their own terms do not guarantee. Doing it yourself from a graded list costs an afternoon per twenty forms.

We publish a free, graded directory index, so we are not neutral about doing it yourself. Every price and promise below was read on the service’s own site on 26 September 2026; several showed a sale price against a struck-through list price, and we quote the sale price.

When is paying worth it?

  • When your hours are worth more than the fee: a form takes ten to fifteen minutes with a sign-in in hand.
  • When you do not want to create and keep dozens of directory accounts yourself.
  • When a report with a screenshot of each submission is what you need to show someone.

When is doing it yourself better?

When the list is the product. In our study of 975 directories, 97 of the 141 entries showing DR 90 or higher borrowed the number from the platform they sit on, the list’s own author rated 350 entries low or skip, 17 were gone within three weeks, and 48 of 81 submission pages wanted a sign-in first. A service that will not name its directories is asking you to trust a list like that unseen. 95 of the 958 live directories are free, dofollow and worth submitting; you can do those yourself in a few afternoons.

What should you ask before you pay?

  1. Which directories, by name, before you pay? A list you cannot see is a list you cannot check.
  2. Whose account and email are the listings under? Some services use their own; you want yours.
  3. What does the refund cover: a rejected or removed listing, or only the act of submitting?
  4. Is the promise Ahrefs DR or Moz DA, and does the same promise appear in the terms?
  5. Which listings are dofollow? Only a dofollow link passes ranking value.

Doing it yourself, with help

The directory index is free: 958 directories with DR, dofollow and price, the 95 worth doing first at the top. With Claude Code, the marketinque MCP server works the list and fills each form from your submission kit; you sign in and press submit. It does not create accounts, solve CAPTCHAs or submit anything unattended, so it is not a done-for-you service. It is the list, the order and the typing.
